This is a shoot I did with Manjeet who works as a Trader in London.  We shot it in Covent Garden and as we were shooting, an Indian lady came up to him and asked “Are you someone famous?” and from there they started a whole dialog in Punjabi, which I found fascinating.  It was a great fun shoot to do, thanks Manjeet!  Check out the rest of the images at www.makidigital.com/blog!

This is the Emailer I sent out to creatives for this month’s online campaign.  It features Clark and Chris and they are quite the duo when put together!  The top image was shot at The Queens Kickshaw in Astoria, NY, just off Broadway and Steinway Street, and the bottom image was shot in Astoria Park.  Yes that is a real bottle of Moët & Chandon in the bottom image!  I explained to Clark “We have one shot to do this” and he went for it head on!  Both shots were great fun to shoot!

Today is March 1st! Which means warmer weather and longer daytimes. March also marks the beginning of the season couples tie the knot. So what better way to start the new month than to share images from a “Trash The Dress” shoot! This is a portrait shoot I did with Alex and Jesse and we shot at Columbus Circle in New York City. A very daring move on their part I must say, and it was really cool because of the energy we felt around us while we were shooting. There were so many enthusiastic cheerers—even the cops—and so many people came up to congratulate the couple. There was of course the odd person who was in utter shock, there was this granny who could not help but look in dismay at the bottom of Alex’s dress! Hence why these types of portraits are called “Trash The Dress” shoots. This was a very exciting shoot to do, thanks Alex, thanks Jesse!  Congratulations! Take a look at the rest of the image selects at www.makidigital.com/blog!

This is from a shoot I did with Jamie last week at Hunter Mountain in Upstate New York!  Awesome fun day and we even finished ahead of schedule so we had a nice hour to sit down and have a long lunch afterwards.  Thanks for a great shoot and great energy Jamie!  Be sure to check out Jamie’s Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/jamie.monahan.79?fref=ts and consider her for your next theater, acting, and commercial gig!  Take a look at the rest of the images at www.makidigital.com/blog!

Recently I’ve been seeing art buyers and creatives at big companies and advertising agencies for in-person meetings, and things have been coming along nicely on the marketing front!  It is a lot of effort being poured in, and I am very grateful to the people who have given me their time to meet with me and look at my work.  This is the Emailer I sent out to art buyers at companies and advertising agencies for this month’s online campaign.  The top image was shot with Radek in Stone Barns, 25 miles north of Manhattan in Pocantino Hills, and the bottom image was shot in Key West, Florida!

I recently shot with Edward from Citibank and Simon from Locke Lord on location in downtown Dallas, TX.  It was a really nice day out except it was freezing cold and extremely windy!  I had no idea it got so cold in Texas during the winter!  Despite the extreme wind chill, Edward and Simon were both troopers and braved out in those conditions for their portrait.  Thanks for a great shoot guys!  Take a look at the rest of the images at www.makidigital.com/blog!

This is a shoot I did in London with a Writer, and we shot in various different locations including Parsons Green, Tower Bridge, Shad Thames, and Canary Wharf.  Shad Thames is my new favorite shooting location in London, the old architecture and brick buildings in this area are so cool!  As many of you may know, London is well known for its dull grey weather, so we were really lucky to have a nice sunny day!  Take a look at the rest of the images at www.makidigital.com/blog!

I was asked by photographer friend and NYU Tisch Photo Alumni peer Avi Gerver to photograph his portrait for his commercial photography business.  We met about a year ago to discuss the shoot and it took almost a year after that to finally do the shoot because of scheduling conflicts.  It was well worth the wait and turned out to be a great shoot.  For me, being asked by a commercial photographer peer to photograph their portrait for their professional use is a huge nod, so it was really cool that Avi asked me.  We set up a studio space at Avi’s and while I was there I also photographed his son Judah who was totally awesome.  Avi shoots great images, check out his work at www.avigerver.com, and take a look at the rest of his images and Judah’s images from this shoot at www.makidigital.com/blog!

Happy New Year!  2012 was a great year for me, I started my own photography business MAKIDIGITAL LLC and spent many months laying the ground work for it.  Now that everything is in place and set up, with my marketing already begun, I am very excited about 2013 and the growth of the company.  Thank you to everyone for your support and especially to everyone who has been commissioning me.  I can feel awesome vibes and energy for this year!

I recently shot with young Sophie who is just 18months old!  She was extremely shy to begin with and had that “I’m not going to put up with this” child look!  But after a while she opened up to me which I am very glad about.  She probably figured out it would be much easier that way than to put up a battle!  Smart and cute girl I must say!

This is the Emailer I sent out to art buyers at companies and advertising agencies for this month’s online campaign. The images were shot in Kyoto, Japan. Oh yeh, that’s my grandmother! I must admit, it was a very challenging shoot to do because my grandmother was very hesitant about doing it and also because as a photographer, you know that you will be scrutinizing them in so many different ways during the edit afterwards of someone you have long history with. For me, photographing an immediate family member is so much harder than photographing someone who is not. Anyway, I got over the latter, so all that was left to do was talk my way into getting my grandmother in front of the camera. Sounds easy, but actually incredibly hard. And even when I did finally get her in front of the camera she still had so much hesitation. Well, magic happened as you can see! She probably gave into the overpowering excitement I had about doing the whole thing! Good thing I swiftly talked my way into getting her friend to being my portrait subject together with my grandmother before grandmother had a chance to say “no way”!

On my recent trip to Orange County, California, I was photographing my friends Ashley and Kyle.  While we were at Huntington Beach, in the parking lot, I passed a surfer with a board who had such a striking surfer look to him.  I was fascinated and clearly Ashley could tell something was on my mind so she asked me what I was thinking.  I told her what I thought and that I wanted to photograph a portrait of him.  Before I even decided what I should do, Ashley ran over to him, hailed him down, and before I knew it, I was taking portraits of him all thanks to Ashley.  I photographed about 25 frames and I got something really cool that I’m posting here.  Afterwards the surfer and I had a chat, his name is Steve, and it turns out, he’s the designer for Volcom.  Very cool!  Especially since I own some of their clothing!  Kyle even received a free new Volcom T-shirt from him which was a really nice gesture.  I sent a large print to Steve afterwards as a token of my appreciation for the portrait.  Next time I’m in California, maybe I’ll get to photograph him or one of his friends in the water (must get water proof camera!).  Thanks for letting me photograph you Steve, you rock!  Check out some of his awesome designs at www.volcom.com!

I recently photographed a portrait of a CEO of a top Japanese Textile Company.  It was a bit different from the outdoor location stuff I usually shoot but it was very much in line with the smiling and youthful energy that is a main part of my work.  It was a great fun shoot, we shot it in the CEO’s corporate office and this is the front of the Thank You card I sent to him afterwards!

This is the final part of the three part blog posting I started three weeks ago.  We shot this in the garden of where I was staying in Karuizawa, Nagano while I was there visiting on my recent trip to Japan.  There were lots of soba noodles involved and everyone kept telling me, “This is the hardest earned soba noodles we’ve ever had!!  I mean, forget this photoshoot, we’re just so hungry for these yummy noodles, we just want to eat!!”.  Alas, they got their wish after I got the shot!  It must’ve tasted especially good after all that hard work!  www.makidigital.com/blog
